Veterans Education Benefits
The Veteran’s Certifying Official, located in the Financial Aid and Veterans Benefits Office is available to assist veterans and their eligible dependents with GI BILL® certification as well as any questions you may have. The application process for veteran educational benefits can be complicated and lengthy. Therefore, applicants should begin the enrollment process as soon as possible. It is recommended that you contact the Department of Veterans’ Affairs at (888) 442-4551 with questions about eligibility criteria.
There is a variety of programs tailored to support veterans and their eligible dependents, including options such as the Montgomery GI BILL® (Chapter 30); the Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance (Chapter 35), the Post 9/11 GI BILL® (Chapter 33), and the Reserve Educational Assistance (Chapter 1607) programs to name a few. However, due to the complexity and nuances of each program and the unique circumstances of individuals, we highly recommend scheduling a visit to our office for a personalized consultation. This ensures that you receive tailored guidance on which programs best suit your situation.
Illinois Valley Community College will not take any of the four following actions toward any student using U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Post 9/11 G.I. However, to qualify for this provision, such students may be required to:
- Produce the VA’s Certificate of Eligibility by the first day of class;
- Provide written request to be certified;
- Provide additional information needed to properly certify the enrollment as described in other institutional policies (see our VA School Certifying Official for all requirements).
