Welcome
Office of the President
As Illinois Valley Community College’s eleventh president, it is an honor to welcome you on behalf of our Board of Trustees, faculty, staff and administration. I am proud to be the first IVCC graduate selected to serve as your President.
In 2024, IVCC will celebrate 100 years of offering high-quality teaching and learning opportunities to our community. The college’s multi-generational reach is also deeply personal for me. I am not only an alumna of IVCC but I am the proud daughter of a nursing program graduate, the sister of a truck driver training graduate, the mother of a high school dual credit student, as well as a friend and supporter of so many IVCC students and alumni.
IVCC was founded as La Salle-Peru-Oglesby Junior College in 1924 and was located at La Salle-Peru Township High School for more than 40 years. In 1947, the Truman Commission on Higher Education recommended “junior” colleges become “community” colleges to serve the needs of their local communities. In 1967, Illinois Valley Community College officially opened as a comprehensive community college offering a broad range of educational opportunities including: adult education, developmental education, vocational and technical training, baccalaureate preparation for transfer to a university, workforce development, and continuing education. IVCC provides opportunities in higher education where we are needed most. We welcome all who seek to learn.
If your goal is to earn an associate degree for a career or matriculate to a university, earn a certificate to enhance your employment skills, or simply enroll in courses for personal development, IVCC welcomes you and is the place for you.
At IVCC, students are the center of all that we do. With more than 40 student clubs and organizations, we offer many opportunities for students to meet others who share similar interests or meet students who will stretch your personal development and expand your horizons. We pride ourselves on our athletic teams, our internship opportunities, and our student support services. Finding ways to get involved is the best way to get the most out of your college experience.
We are so excited that you are here and we look forward to joining you on your educational and career journey toward a brighter future.
Best Wishes,
Dr. Tracy Morris
President
