MUP 1004 Jazz Band

The Jazz Band is a performance ensemble that is composed of woodwind, brass, guitar, and percussion instruments and performs jazz music. Enrollment is open to students and community members who have previous performance experience, with an audition and/or consent of the instructor. Students in the band will develop technical skills with an instrument, develop group performance skills, and become exposed to a variety of musical styles and periods. The Jazz Band meets regularly for instruction and rehearsals (usually once a week). The band performs at least one formal concert per semester and informal performances and activities as possible. Students may repeat the course for a maximum of four credit hours. Prerequisite: High school band experience and consent of instructor. Audition required for enrollment.
